Bid Rules for Team Owners
Welcome to the Koshi Pride League (KPL) Team Ownership Program.
KPL invites reputable companies, business groups, and organizations to apply for the opportunity to operate and commercially represent a KPL team under a five-year franchise arrangement.
These Bid Rules explain the eligibility requirements, selection process, annual franchise fees, Team Owner benefits, sponsorship rights, and key responsibilities.

1. Who Can Apply?
Applicants should meet the following basic requirements:
- Be a reputable company, business group, organization, or legally eligible entity.
- Have satisfactory professional and financial standing.
- Be able to demonstrate the financial capacity to operate a KPL team.
- Provide valid company registration, PAN/VAT, identification, and other required documents.
- Provide complete, accurate, and truthful information in the application.
KPL may request additional documents, business profiles, financial information, references, presentations, or interviews during the evaluation process.
2. Enrollment Fee
Each applicant must pay a:
NPR 10,000/-
Non-Refundable Enrollment/Application Fee
Payment of the enrollment fee allows the applicant to participate in the Team Owner selection process.
Important: Payment of this fee does not guarantee that an applicant will receive a KPL team.
3. Team Owner Selection
Submission of an application or bid does not guarantee Team Ownership or Team allocation.
All eligible applications will be reviewed by the KPL Board.
The KPL Board may consider:
- Business reputation
- Financial capability
- Management experience
- Marketing and promotional strength
- Brand value
- Commercial network
- Commitment to cricket and sports development
- Ability to operate the Team professionally
- Long-term vision for the Team and KPL
The highest financial bid will not automatically guarantee selection.
The final selection and Team allocation will be decided by the KPL Board.
4. Franchise Term
A successful applicant will receive the contractual right to operate and commercially represent an allocated KPL team for:
5 Years
The five-year period will begin from the effective date specified in the final Team Ownership/Franchise Agreement.
The franchise does not automatically renew after five years.
Any renewal will depend on:
- Team performance
- Compliance with KPL rules
- Settlement of all outstanding payments
- Applicable renewal fees
- KPL Board approval
- Execution of a new or renewal agreement
5. Annual Franchise Fees
Selected Team Owners must pay the following annual Team Ownership/Franchise Fees:
First Year
NPR 5,00,000/-
Nepalese Rupees Five Hundred Thousand Only
Second Year
NPR 7,50,000/-
Nepalese Rupees Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Only
Third Year
NPR 10,00,000/-
Nepalese Rupees One Million Only
Fourth Year
To be determined by the KPL Board
The applicable fee will be communicated before the beginning of the fourth year.
Fifth Year
To be determined by the KPL Board
The applicable fee will be communicated before the beginning of the fifth year.
The fourth- and fifth-year fees may be determined based on the commercial growth of the League, sponsorship value, market conditions, operating costs, broadcasting value, inflation, and other relevant factors.
6. What Team Owners Receive from KPL
Against the annual franchise fees, KPL will arrange or facilitate major League-level services and promotional opportunities for participating teams.
These may include:
National Television Coverage
KPL will arrange or facilitate broadcast or coverage of League matches through an appropriate national television platform, subject to final broadcasting arrangements.
YouTube Live
Official KPL matches may be streamed live through YouTube as part of KPL’s digital coverage.
Facebook Live
KPL may provide live coverage and promotional content through Facebook and other approved digital platforms.
Worldwide Feed
KPL will aim to provide or facilitate worldwide digital or broadcast access where technically and commercially available.
Social Media Marketing
KPL will promote the League and participating teams through official social media, digital campaigns, promotional content, and League-level marketing activities.
Better Playing Environment
KPL will arrange or facilitate a suitable playing field and professional event environment for official League activities.
Cricket Playing Pitch
Official matches will be conducted on an appropriate cricket-playing pitch arranged or approved by KPL.
Broadcasting platforms, venues, promotional schedules, and distribution arrangements may vary depending on KPL’s final commercial, technical, operational, and broadcasting agreements.
7. Player-Buying Budget
The player-buying budget is separate from the annual franchise fee.
Each Team Owner will be required to maintain the following player-buying budget:
First Year
NPR 6,00,000/-
Second Year
NPR 7,50,000/-
Third Year
NPR 10,00,000/-
The player-buying budget will be used in accordance with KPL’s player auction, draft, selection, registration, and competition rules.
Player-buying budgets for later years may be determined under the applicable KPL Player Regulations.
8. Sponsorship and Revenue Sharing
KPL will have the primary authority to negotiate and manage all League-level or Central Brand Sponsorships.
25% Sponsorship Profit Sharing
Twenty-five percent (25%) of KPL’s applicable net profit generated from League-level or Central Brand Sponsorships will be allocated collectively to approved KPL teams and distributed equally among them.
For this purpose, applicable net profit means sponsorship income actually received by KPL after deduction of applicable taxes, agreed sponsorship expenses, commissions, service charges, and other approved sponsorship-related costs.
The 25% represents the total Team Owner revenue-sharing pool.
It does not mean that each Team Owner individually receives 25% of KPL’s total sponsorship profit.
The final calculation method and payment schedule will be stated in the Team Ownership/Franchise Agreement.
9. Team-Specific Sponsorship
Team Owners may obtain their own Team-specific sponsors, subject to KPL approval and applicable sponsorship policies.
Team-specific sponsorships must not conflict with:
- Official KPL sponsors
- Central sponsors
- Exclusive sponsorship categories
- Restricted or prohibited categories
- Existing KPL commercial agreements
- Applicable laws
- KPL branding and reputational standards
KPL may reject or require modification of a sponsorship proposal if it creates a legal, commercial, regulatory, ethical, branding, or reputational conflict.
A Team Owner may not enter into any agreement on behalf of KPL or another KPL team without prior written authorization.
10. Team Owner Responsibilities
Every Team Owner must:
- Protect the reputation and commercial interests of KPL.
- Follow all KPL rules and regulations.
- Follow Team branding, logo, uniform, sponsorship, media, and marketing guidelines.
- Professionally manage the Team, staff, players, marketing, and operations.
- Pay all applicable franchise fees and Team-related financial obligations on time.
- Cooperate with KPL management, organizers, broadcasters, sponsors, officials, players, and other Team Owners.
- Avoid fraud, corruption, match manipulation, illegal activities, or serious misconduct.
- Use KPL’s name, logo, trademarks, and intellectual property only for authorized purposes.
Serious misconduct, non-payment, fraud, unlawful activity, unauthorized transfer of Team rights, match manipulation, or material breach of the final Agreement may result in suspension or termination.
11. Transfer of Team Rights
A Team Owner may not sell, transfer, assign, sublicense, pledge, or otherwise transfer its Team Franchise Rights to another person or company without prior written approval from KPL.
The Team Owner shall not sell, transfer, assign, or otherwise dispose of the Team Franchise Rights during the first three (3) years or three (3) seasons, whichever is applicable. After completion of the first three (3) years/seasons, any proposed sale or transfer of the Team shall require the prior written approval of the KPL Board. No transfer shall be valid or effective without such approval.
Any major change in ownership or control of the Team Owner’s company must also be disclosed to KPL.
12. Important Notice
Submitting an application, paying the NPR 10,000/- Enrollment Fee, participating in an interview, receiving communication from KPL, or taking part in negotiations does not create any automatic right to own or operate a KPL Team.
A successful applicant will receive Team Franchise Rights only after:
- Approval by the KPL Board
- Official written confirmation of Team allocation
- Payment of applicable fees
- Signing of the official Team Ownership/Franchise Agreement
13. Nature of Team Ownership
For the purpose of KPL, the term “Team Owner” refers to a person or entity granted contractual franchise and operating rights for a KPL team.
Team Ownership does not automatically provide:
- Shares in K.P.L. Group Pvt. Ltd.
- Equity ownership in KPL
- Voting rights in K.P.L. Group Pvt. Ltd.
- Ownership of KPL’s intellectual property
- Ownership of any other KPL Team
All rights will be governed by the final Team Ownership/Franchise Agreement.
14. Governing Law
These Bid Rules and the subsequent Team Ownership/Franchise Agreement will be governed by the applicable laws of Nepal.
Where any League activity requires permission, registration, affiliation, license, or approval from a competent authority, the activity will be carried out subject to obtaining the required authorization.
15. Final Agreement
These Bid Rules govern the application and Team Owner selection process.
After selection, the legal and commercial relationship between KPL and the successful Team Owner will be governed by the official:
Team Ownership / Franchise Agreement
If there is any inconsistency between these Bid Rules and the subsequently signed Team Ownership/Franchise Agreement, the signed Agreement will prevail to the extent permitted by applicable law.
